Ready for the Next Level? Try Urban Pilates Group Classes!

Joseph Pilates’ original vision is simple. Those who are practicing Classical Pilates believe in mastering the fundamentals in private sessions before moving into a bigger group setting. Urban Pilates has a few classes for anyone interested in advancing their Pilates Practice. However, these classes are not for beginners! Here’s how to get to this level and advance your fitness goals.

Why We Start with Private Sessions

When starting a new fitness routine, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, overexert yourself, or even get injured if you haven’t had the chance to properly learn the fundamentals. In larger fitness classes, it is impossible for instructors to give each person the proper attention that might be needed. Unlike many Contemporary Pilates studios that throw you into one of those large group classes, Urban Pilates takes a different approach. We believe in getting the basics down with private instruction before starting a group class.

Get hands on instruction with one of our expert instructors!

Private instruction serves as your foundation. During your private session, you and your instructor get on the same page when it comes to knowing what your body can do, what goals you might have, or any restrictions you might have. It is also a great way to develop muscle memory for proper form that will be a base for your Pilates journey!

Urban Pilates also offers Semi-Private Sessions! Training with a friend, or someone on a similar fitness level, is a great way to keep yourself accountable! This starts creating a bridge between the private sessions and group classes. It allows you to practice and enhance your skills in a small, supportive environment (while still receiving personalized attention!)

Group Classes: The Reward for Your Foundation

After mastering the foundational building blocks of the classical pilates method, our group classes are a great way to build upon them. When you join one of our classes, it is more beneficial to focus on the flow and challenge of the workout rather than worrying about doing the exercises correctly. You should be at a point where muscle memory will start to take over. That also makes it easier on our instructors! They are able to more confidently guide the class, knowing every single member has had the same kind of beginning.

Our group classes are still small to provide the proper guidance needed to further your practice!

Ready to Begin?

At Urban Pilates, we believe in cultivating a deep, lasting understanding of movement that supports you for life. Our group classes are designed for dedicated practitioners and represent the integration of the Classical Pilates system as a whole. These classes bring students together to experience the depth, challenge, and precision of the work in a shared setting.

If you’re interested in joining a group class, ask your teacher during your next visit or email us at frontdesk@urban-pilates.com. We’re happy to help place you in a class that’s the right fit.
