"I'm generally reluctant to go to a gym or a studio for a workout, mainly because I train and play enough soccer to stay relatively fit. However, I've had uncomfortably tight hamstrings for many years so I felt that I needed to try something different to maintain and improve my fitness and flexibilty. Plus, I'm not getting any younger so my recovery seems to take longer.

I've heard enough positive feedback regarding pilates and isolated stretching over the years from other soccer players that I had to give it a try. The main feedback I've heard is that pilates will strengthen your core and the active stretching component can help with your flexibility, especially the troubled spots like my hamstrings. It just seemed like a no-brainer- who couldn't benefit from a stronger core and more flexibility?

Since giving it a shot, I've had immediate results. It became clear that I don't stretch enough so this training was so obviously helpful. After doing one of Heather Thompson's AIS group classes and an introductory pilates class with April Tillman, my legs were shaking. It was great! My body was telling me where I needed to focus. I then followed up with a private AIS class. Once again, my legs were shaking with appreciation. Now, I feel like I have more balance, more strength, more flexibilty, and quicker recovery after training and games. Now, I'm telling all my teammates that they need to go to Urban Pilates and try this. The proof is in the results. I can't wait to have my legs shaking again because it only means good things. Don't be frightened, it's all good."
