April Tillman

April Tillman | Urban Pilates, Portland, OR | NE AlbertaApril Tillman, Owner and Director of Pilates, Born and raised in Hood River OR, April grew up with the understanding that a healthy lifestyle begins with physical movement. After a car accident that left her with an injured back April discovered Pilates and found that this practice not only enhanced her recovery, but also embodied her lifestyle. In 1997 she became a certified instructor through Romana Kryzanowska protégé of Joseph Pilates and began her career working for Mair Winsor at Winsor Pilates . April has continue her pursuit of Pilates and has had the opportunity to teach Pilates at a variety of studios from Santa Monica, Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Sun Valley Idaho before moving back to Oregon and opening Urban Pilates. In addition, April has dedicated herself to Pilates and continues to participate in continuing education programs with Dorthee Vandewalle at Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle, WA. During her off-time April enjoys spending time with her daughter Simone, husband Jonathan and two dogs Ruby and Lola — she takes her high energy and enthusiasm into everyday life. April strives to bring this same energy, educated body awareness, and love of physical movement to each of her clients.

Brittany Barta

Brittany Barta | Urban Pilates, Portland, OR | NE AlbertaBrittany Barta recently received her certification after studying under Dorothee VandeWalle at Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle. Brittany has been thoroughly trained on the beginner, intermediate and advanced systems and knows how to coordinate an effective, safe, and personalized Pilates workout that provides the maximum benefit for each client.

Although Brittany is new to Pilates, her clients appreciate her enthusiasm, warmth, and ability to design a program that is perfectly suited for their body. She's a creative thinker and a patient coach. Brittany has worked with clients suffering from shoulder, knee, back, ankle, and neck pains as well as arthritis and sciatica and loves to help people figure out which method will provide the best results for their particular needs. Brittany has also worked with women during pregnancy. She is innovative, flexible, and eager to help improve the lives of her clients!

Lynnea Amend

Lynnea Amend is a certified Pilates instructor through Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle and a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. As a natural athlete, Lynnea has always found physical activity fun, whether it be on the court or on the course of her latest marathon. She loves her job and helping others find the joy she's found in fitness. Your workout with Lynnea will be tailored to your needs, challenging, but most of all fun!

Renata Jarvi

A native of Ashland, Oregon, Renata grew up with an innate love of movement and fitness. She discovered Yoga in 1995 and became certified with D'ana Baptiste in 2007. After teaching Yoga and dance all over Oregon, Arizona, North Carolina, and Utah, she discovered the M.A.T Pilates Teacher Certification program. After over 800 hours of intensive training under Brooke Tyler of Clasique Pilates, April Tillman of Urban Pilates, and Master Teacher Dorothee VandeWalle, she received her certification. Offering over ten years of teaching experience, workouts with Renata are dynamic, challenging, and fun for every body!
